For researchers whose recordings can't go just anywhere

Transcribe and code your interviews without sending them to an AI company

Upload your interview recordings and get speaker-labelled transcripts and a first-pass codebook with every code linked to its quotes. It all runs on hardware we own: your recordings and transcripts are never sent to OpenAI, Google, Anthropic or any other AI provider. You review and revise every code.

The problem

Qualitative data is slow to process, and hard to hand off

  1. Transcribing a single interview by hand can take hours.

  2. Many AI transcription and coding features send your data to a third-party AI provider.

  3. Your consent form or ethics approval may limit where recordings can go.

How it works

  1. Upload your recordings

Audio or video files from your interviews or focus groups, uploaded over an encrypted connection.

  2. Get transcripts with speakers labelled

Timestamped transcripts you can check against the audio and correct.

  3. Review a first-pass codebook

Suggested codes with definitions and linked quotes. Accept, rename, merge or reject each one.

What you get

Not sent to any AI provider

Transcription and coding run on open models on hardware we own, in the US.

A draft you revise

Nothing is final until you accept it, and the export records which codes were suggested.

Every code linked to quotes

Each suggested code points to the exact passages and timestamps behind it.

Use your own codebook

Upload an existing codebook and get passages suggested for each code.

Export to your QDA software

Clean speaker labels and timestamps as Word, CSV or REFI-QDA files for the tool you already use.

Deleted on your schedule

Files are deleted automatically after your project, or the moment you click delete.

Questions

Is QualVault available now?

Not yet. We're building it now. Join early access and we'll email you when it's ready, with your founding price locked in.

Will I be charged if I join?

No. Joining is free and doesn't commit you to anything.

Where are my recordings processed?

On hardware we own and run in the US. They're never sent to OpenAI, Google, Anthropic or any other AI provider, and never used to train any model. Uploads travel over an encrypted connection through our network provider.

Will my IRB or ethics board accept it?

It depends on your board. Before launch we'll publish a plain data-handling statement you can send them, describing where files are processed, who can access them and when they're deleted. We can't promise any particular board will approve it.

Is it right for my study?

It's for researchers in the US, Canada and Australia. It isn't suitable for HIPAA-protected health information, and we can't sign EU or UK GDPR processor agreements or custom institutional contracts.

Can AI coding replace my own analysis?

No. It's a first pass to save time, not an analysis. You read the transcripts and decide every code yourself.
